Lighting is simple. I will give you 2 choices. Actually, I guess there's 3 choices, if you have considered looking at your set through the lens and like the way the lighting looks the way it already is. It is possible, although not the norm. As I explained in the lighting tips section, there are no rules for lighting. If you were to shine a flashlight on your subject and you like what you see, then go with it. But most shoots need a little more help than that, so here are your other two choices.
Low End: Go to Home Depot or your local hardware store and pick up some workman's lights. They come 2 lights on a tripod. This will cost you between $50 and $100. When you are in the room that you will be shooting in, don't shine the lights on your subject. Instead, shine them on the ceiling (hopefully the ceiling is white). Make sure you unscrew the iron grating from the lights first to get some shadows out of the way, but beware. Those lights are hot and the metal grates were installed for your protection. Shining the lights on the ceiling will flood the room with warm, happy light. Check the camcorder to make sure this is the look you are going for. If you are working in a large room, then purchase more than one unit. That's it. You have just saved yourself hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars on pro lighting!

| Medium End: Check out "soft box lighting". In soft box lighting, you have a powerful light that is being diffused by a translucent material so all the shadows go away. If you are shooting 1 or 2 subjects standing close together, use just one. But the larger the area you are shooting in gets, you will need to get more.
