Now I can't stress enough how Important I feel headphone monitoring is!  Yes you can get away with "hoping" that your audio from your internal mic or your wireless is coming in good.  But what if you do your shoot and then find out your incoming sound was too loud, or too low, or *GASP* NONEXISTENT! 

When you purchase your camcorder, try your best to get one with a headphone jack.  What you hear in the headphones during the shoot, is what your customers will hear when viewing your video.

Anyway the point is...get yourself a pair of headphones and listen in while you shoot!

One more thing before I give you our picks for headphones.  Sound is reletive.  When you have a cheap pair of headphones, it's better to hear bad sound, than no sound at all.  I have a lower quality pair of Sony headphones that I use when my good pair is in use.  It's funny that the sound I get sounds really good on these headphones.  But...if I were to exchange those lower quality headphones for some great ones in the middle of a shoot, I'm usually blown away at the quality!  I get mad at myself for not having two or three pairs of high quality headphones.

Hopefully you are getting my point.  If all you have is the 1988 leftover pair of headphones from your cassette walkman...use it.  Good is good enough!  But as we always say here at More Sales with video.com, "Great is Better!"  Check out our article, "Good is Good Enough!" in order to understand this philosophy a little better.
